Welcome to Ocaid Photography –
We specialize in event photography. Our name, ‘Ocaid’ is from the Gaelic word for ‘event’ and seemed apropo. I have been a photographer for over 40 years and have been an official event photographer for the past two years for several groups including the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce, the Davidson Players, the Huntersville Connection and other private parties.
My goal is to provide you with unobtrusive photographic coverage of your event, capturing the mood and memorable moments while you enjoy the event itself.
Just returned from a trip up the coast. Headed east to Nags Head and then North up through Virginia Beach, Chinkoteque, Ocean Beach, Rehoboth, back west through Annapolis and Washington DC, and finally over the mountains through Roanoke and home. Just finished processing most of the pictures that I had taken on the 1800 mile trip. Probably the most frustrating was Washington DC. If you are headed there in the near future, you might want to ensure that what you want to see is open. Many parts, even whole buildings are closed in the Smithsonian, the mall is a construction zone and fenced off, the Capitol Building has scaffolding around it, and in general it was a little tough to get around. Will be posting a gallery of pictures from the trip shortly. John...read more
I recently upgraded to Lightroom 6 and have found the upgrade to a worthwhile purchase. Overall the performance appears to be better and they have added some nice new features. Two of the new features include a Panorama Maker and an HDR process. Neither of these is up to the levels of some of the more advanced stand-alones or plug-in addons but if you want to quickly perform one of the functions during your workflow they do work adequately and produce acceptable results. There was a downside to the upgrade and that was an inability to export to my Onedrive folders. It turns out to make this work you need to seek out the installed copy of Lightroom.exe and right click the properties and under the compatibility tab select the works with Onedrive option. I will do a further review as soon as I use it a bit more....read more
Good Morning, I have posted the pictures from last Saturday and am in the process of putting together the selection and purchasing method. Selling pictures this way is a little different than the rest of my business which is by the job, not by the picture so my site is not set up to make this efficient – working on it but for the next couple of weeks we need to use what I consider a a less than optimum set-up. For MX421 Pictures – proceed to the picture area by selecting the event portfolio menu – select the MX421 xx-xx-xx (date) gallery. I have broken down the day into several sections and labeled the JRs – unfortunately I should have noted the classes for the others but I did not so you can check each for shots that you might want. When you open up the gallery it should be in preview mode so that you can see the pictures – you can select the pictures that you want by clicking on the pictures and a small square in the upper right hand corner should appear with a check in it. After you have finished selecting for that gallery – change the view to the list mode and note the numbers (you only need the numbers after MX412 mm-dd-yy **** that have checks by them should be between 1 and 1500 – these are the ones that you have selected for that gallery. Do this for each gallery and email me the numbers that you want to purchase. Galleries should be in chronological order for the day. If it is a simple purchase that fits one of the three selections on the purchase menu you can proceed to do the purchase – if it looks more complicated – then let me know in the email and I will let you know how to proceed. I apologize for this method and hope to have it remedied for the next time. Thanks, John...read more
